What is Gracie Jiu Jitsu?
Rodriguez ATA is an affiliate Team member under Kama Jiu Jitsu and is the only school where you will learn the latest refinements to Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as done by Master Rickson Gracie, the undisputed Gracie Family Champion. We teach Master Rickson’s curriculum with a cutting-edge methodology and philosophy that is not available anywhere else. Our teaching efficiency is top-notch, and unmatched anywhere else based on our experience training under the sons of legendary Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster, Helio Gracie. As a Kama Jiu-Jitsu member, you will get a complete command of our curriculum in record time. You can rest in the confidence you will have in learning the world’s most effective martial art designed purely for self-defense!
What sets us apart from every other Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (GJJ) and Mixed Martial arts (MMA) school is that the training by Professor Dave Kama is passed down to his students and affiliates by no other than Master Rickson Gracie top Black Belt.

The general progression for Gracie Jiu Jitsu of Highland Village is:
White to Blue Belt: Know the Rickson Gracie self defense curriculam, and be proficient in each of the basic positions, and know and understand their appropriate transitions.
Blue to Purple: Learn advanced techniques to build on your knowledge of the basics from White Belt. Learn to train and practice properly with other people. You will also develop the skill set applying restrain while training with lower belts.
Purple to Brown: Learn more advanced techniques to further build on your knowledge of the advanced techniques you picked up while a Blue Belt. Also, learn how to string your techniques together in sequences while white and blue belts all learn to use and identify submissions. The purple belt level is where you become "dangerous" to upper belts.
Brown to Black: Take those sequenses you honed while a Purple Belt. and develop "your game" You will know by now what your "go to moves are and can execute those sequences flawlessly and like clockwork.
Gracie Kids Jiu-Jitsu Ages 7-12
Your kids will be taught the core movements of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. In addition, they will learn:
Gracie combat self defense
Concepts pertaining to base, application of weight, and distribution of weight.
Positions of danger, positions of safety
Position maintenance (under 12 yrs old), Submission application (over 12 yrs old) among other things!
We don’t water down the techniques for the kids.
They learn what the adults learn; it’s just the timing of when they learn it will differ some to make it appropriate for the kids’ emotional maturity and stage in life. Rodriguez ATA Martial Arts Academy is a traditional Gracie Jiu-Jitsu school. We answer only to Professor David Kama, Professor Ryan Young and Master Rickson Gracie. We do not adhere to the IBJJF rules and regulations of most modern BJJ schools. Instead, we apply concepts, techniques, and rank the same way Rickson Gracie did in his academy in Los Angeles.
At Rodriguez ATA Martial Arts Academy, you will learn Gracie Jiu Jitsu the way it is supposed to be taught;
We teach classes for children of all ages but normally no younger than 7 yrs of age. Our Jiu Jitsu programs will help everybody feel more confident, because they know deep down they have been prepared better for an unexpected situation, which hopefully can be diffused with out violence first.
Our students learn all three major parts of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. We don’t show you only the parts that work in competition. We show you the parts that work in a street altercation as well.
